The study found that smokers who consumed the most fruit and vegetables were 3 times more likely to be tobacco free than those consuming the lowest amount of fruit and vegetables during a 14 month period- even after making adjustments for age, gender, health orientation and income, education.
Everyone could benefit from more fruit and vegetables in their diet. An easy way to get your daily quota is having vegetables and fruit as snacks – some celery sticks and almond butter; an apple with some almonds; or cucumber with some home made guacamole.
